Dr. Rita Kuyumjian will present Aline Koutan

Aline Koutan and Gregory Chaverdian will be present and will participate
in the programme

Aline Kutan started her career as a coloratura soprano at the Vancouver
Opera. Since then she has continued her singing career in the Phantom of
the Opera as a lyric singer. She has won several awards including the
first prize at the Metropolotan Opera of New York. She has been
participating in several operatic productions in Europe and North America.

Gregory Chaverdian has been active in Montreal's music scene. He had his
musical beginning at the Komitas conservatory in Armenia. In 1989 he
received the first prize at the International Piano Comptetionof Rio de
Janeiro. He has performed in several countries including Poland, Italy,
England and North America. He currently teaches at McGill and Concordia
Universities.

The CD contains songs from Sayat Nova, Gomidas, B. Ganachian,
K. Alemshah, A. Spendiarian, R. Melikian, S. Karamanuk, E. Mirzoyan,
A. Haroutiunian, K. Petrossian, A. Dolukhanian, A. Ayvazian.

Rita Kuyumjian, M.D. is well known in the Armenian community for her work
on Komitas that resulted n the publication of her book, Archeology of
Madness (Gomidas Institute, 2001). Dr. Kuyumjian is Director of
Postgraduate Education at St. Mary's Hospital, Department of Psychiatry.
She received her medical degree in Armenia, and her psychiatry training at
McGill. Her current interest is in establishing a link between McGill
University and Yerevan State Medical Institute to develop and upgrade
their Residency Program and Psychiatry Department. Dr. Kuyumjian has
clinical experience in treating Armenians. Her special interest area is
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder - she has carried out research in this area
in the aftermath of the 1988 tragic earthquake in Armenia, with a special
focus on the children.
