LRAPER - FIVE DIE DURING PRAYER

ISTANBUL, 15 December ("Lraper" Church Bulletin) - A 5.8 magnitude
earthquake with its epicenter in Afyon, shook the western and ventral parts
of Turkey at 16:00 hours today. Five Moslem believers lost their lives as
the minaret of a mosque, in the village of Yasharlar in Akshehir, Konya,
collapsed. His Beatitude Mesrob II, Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul and all
Turkey, sent a message of condolences to the Moslem clergy in Yasharlar. The
Patriarch assured the Moslem clergy of the solidarity and prayers of the
Christian faithful at this time of suffering, and asked them to convey his
deep sympathy to the families of the deceased.
