Morning sessions features history of the Cilician Armenian
principality and kingdom & relations between the Armenian
Church and the Western churches. Speakers: Azat Bozoyan
(Armenia), Gerard Dedeyan and Claude Mutafian (France),
Peter Halfter (Germany), and Robert Hewsen, Abraham Terian,
and Peter Cowe (USA).
Friday afternoon includes historic, literary, and
linguistic themes with Victoria Rowe (Canada), and
James Russell, Dickran Kouymjian, Rubina Peroomian,
David Calonne, and Bert Vaux (USA).
Saturday, morning sessions highlight Armenian Art,
Architecture, and Manuscripts with Levon Chookaszian,
David Kertmenjian, and Stella Vardanian (Armenia),
Bernard Coulie (Belgium), and Christina Maranci and
Scott Redford (USA). Afternoon sessions concentrate on
the modern period of Cilician Armenia from the
massacres of 1909 and the Genocide of 1915 to
repatriation of the survivors after World War I, their
final exodus in the 1920s, and the reestablishment of
Catholicosate of Cilicia in Lebanon, with Raymond
Kevorkian and Vahe Tachjian (France), Hilmar Kaiser
(Italy), and Garabet Moumdjian, Vahram Shemmassian,
and Simon Payaslian (USA). The conference will
conclude with a retrospective by Professor Hovannisian
and an appreciation by His Holiness Aram.
