LRAPER - ARMENIAN AND GREEK PATRIARCHS ATTENDED EVENTS HONORING PRESIDENT CLINTON ISTANBUL, 19 Nov (Lraper) - His Beatitude Mesrob II, Armenian Patriarch of Istanbul, and His Holiness Bartholomew I, Greek Patriarch of Istanbul (Ecumenical Patriarch of the Chalcedonian Orthodox Churches), were in the presidential headquarters in Ankara on 15 November, Monday evening. Invited by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Suleyman Demirel, the hierarchs attended the state ceremony during which the President of the United States of America, Mr. William Clinton, was awarded the State Medal of Honor. Following a piano recital by Fazil Say, the Patriarchs also attended the official state dinner honoring Mr. amd Mrs. W. Clinton and had the opportunity to greet the illustrious guests in person.
