Where are you? Yerevan, Armenia
How did you hear about us? By the help of My Turkish language lecturer
Dear Sirs,
My name is Marine Petrosyan.
I represent an economic research project in Yerevan, Armenia, which refers to the potential opening of the border between Armenia and Turkey. The project is going to be held by the help of CRRC (Caucasian Research Resource Centre (www.crrc.am) ). I have a strong belief in the hypothesis, that I am going to prove in my reserach project, but yet I need support and help from third parties in gaining information from the other part of the negotiations (related universities in Istanbul, Ankara or Antalya etc... )

A research program selection was organized by CRRC. They gave complete freedom in the research subject choice and chose several proposals to support: this research was among chosen proposals.
I would like to mention also that some research institutions also are interested in the results of this research.

Research Subject: The risks of native product consumption in local Armenian agricultural market in case of open Armenian-Turkish border.

My Hypothesis: The opening of Armenian-Turkish border is an additional opportunity for the local producers to reduce the production costs (by reducing the transportation costs) and export the local product with better condition and lower prices. Thus, Armenian producers of agricultural goods should rather be ready than beware of the opening of the border, of course, in case of thoughtfully designed trade policy.

As you see, the research needs information database about Turkish economic policy and particularly, agricultural market.

I am looking forward to your reply with following questions and statements.

Thank you in advance.

For those of us concerned about the future of our Patriarch and Patriarchate of Istanbul, I recommend reading the text of a circa 2000 interview Kemal Yalcin conducted with Archbishop Karekin Bekciyan by visiting www.kemalyalcin.com. Clik on "Soyleyisler" in the left tabulation, and the intro to the interview text captioned "Sirpazan Karekin Bekciyan ile Soylesi." Sirpazan is my middle school classmate from Pangalti Lycee and a highly qualified clergy of the Armenian Church in his own right.

The 185th year observance of the founding of Mekhitaryan Varjaran in Istanbul will take place in Montreal, Canada, on May the 15th, 2010, at the home of "Association Culturelle des Armeniens d'Istanbul," 2855 Victor Dore, Montreal, QQC, H3M 1T1, Canada. Check out their website www.bolshay.ca/welcome.html. I found the contents informative with videolinks to entertainment most Bolsahays could relate.

For those Mekhitaryan Alumni and Bolsahays who have been involved in classical and liturgical music over the past five decades, it is a sad time to observe and mourn the passing of Maestro Jirayr Arslanyantz on Sunday, December 13, 2009. For multiple generations of his students, fellow choir singers, and musical instrumentalists, Maestro Arslanyantz represented a high caliber of Bolsahay artists and intellectuals whose ranks have dwindled. I hope OIA's Cultural Committee is planning a memorial evening dedicated to him and to his works.

How did you hear about us? By chance
I am extremely happy to have found your page. I have not gone through everything yet, so far it looks fabulous. I need help and hope you can render it. I have quite a number of armenian fonts as well as Maral. I also have the Kdwin keyboard. Unfortunately I cannot appear im my email or the facebook in Armenian. I was told the only way is to download ARMENIAN OCCIDENTAL QUERY fonts which is the only means of appearing on an email or facebook, but I cannot find the above fonts. Could you please direct me. My other question is: My maternal grandfather came from Garin (Erzeroom). Most of the family members joined those who were massacared, so we live today...bu one of his brothers' and one sister tried to escape to Easter Armenia, is there a possibility I could trace them? I will be grateful for your help.
Rubina

I received news of the upcoming 185th Anniversary Observation of Mekhitarian Miapanutyun. All I know is a date, 15 May 2010, and that it might be held in Toronto, like we did for the 175th Anniversary. Who is compiling a database of Mekhitariantsiz in the USA? Is the Mekhitarian Alumni group associated with OIA involved?
Please contact me as I might have some input into this list.

How did you hear about us? Frequent visitor...
For those of you who missed visiting Mekhitarian's recently updated website, you are for a delightful surprise as I have been! What seems to be missing are class pictures and historic photos of school bands, olympic meets, picnics, etc., which adorned the walls of the main hallway. Would certainly like to visit my "alma mater" on my next visit to Istanbul.

I am writing regarding my short film, "Hove (The Wind)" with the Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis. I have attached the press release.

The film has been invited to the Palm Springs International Film Festival for its World Premiere on June 27 at 8pm. Palm Springs is a prestigious film festival and an Oscar-qualifying festival. It is a real vote of confidence that they have placed the film in a prime screening spot, Saturday at 8pm.

Thank you,

Alex Webb

I would appreciate if you can help me to locate my boss from Istanbul in 1950s. He is now around 82-84 years old, and still alive living in America. His name is Onnik Parsegoglu. Do you have a record of him? Or may be a relative that knows him. If you can post his name or email this message to your members I will highly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Parev,

I am a graduate student at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), and I would like some help obtaining school records from Getronagan for Levon Tutundjian, who attended the school around 1918-1922. Can anyone help or put me in contact with someone who can?

Thank you,

My sister is searching a close relative of our families, Nevart Bal, who graduated from Esayan in the late fifties and might even have taught there for a while. Unlike the Mekhitarian Alumni Committee's website, Esayan's link on this website brings up a totally unrelated "advertisement" of vitamins, etc. Could the chair of the Esayan Alumni Committe, Ms. Zaruhi Hachikian contact me via my E-mail if she has known Nevart from years back as a teacher and might know her whereabouts. Nevart should be around my older sister's age, 61, and possibly a grandmother now. Thank you.

I graduated from your elementary school in June 1942 at the age of 12.
At that time the Dnoren was Mr. Kürkcüyan. I had the privilege of being taught by Hayr Hmayag (Medzavor Vartabed)Hayr Sarkis, Hayr Krikoris, who later became the Abbahayr in Vienna. We also had the privilege of his visit to us in Ottawa where I assisted him (diratzzu) at a mass. Hey gidi günler)

I continued my High School education at English High School for Boys in Nisantas. followed by my university education at istanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Mimarlik Fakültesi.
In 1957 my wife Sylvia (Altiparmakyan) and I emigrated to Canada where I have been practicing architecture for 44 years.
We have two children Marianne (50) and Mark (42) and 4 grandchildren: Jamie (16), Anna (14), Madeleine (2)and Thomas (7 months).
We love Canada.

I once read, online, the October 2006 issue of Voice, OIA's literary publication, almost cover-to-cover, and with great interest. Have there been other issues beyond October 2006? I would very much appreciate being able to read Voice, especially in Armenian. Would someone from OIA's Cultural Committee provide the missing link please? Thank you.
