To survive, a nation must conserve its culture. To thrive, however, it must do more: it must promote and advance its culture. A nation neglectful of its culture is condemned to extinction. We must all, therefore, do our best to keep alive our traditions, our values and way of life, passing them onto our children to embrace and preserve.
Realizing this goal requires that we have an organization to bring everyone in our community—from the very young to the very old—together. The OIA, with its subcommittees, including the Cultural Committee, aspires to do just that. However, its success depends critically on your participation. If, as an Istanbul Armenian, you wish to do your part in helping us promote and advance our culture and community, please make it a point to come to the Cultural Committee's general meetings. We look forward to seeing you there.
