    NEW YORK, 04/22/1999, (ANN/Groong) -- On Friday, April 23,
ABC's
network news program, "World News Tonight" is scheduled to
air a
5-minute segment on the Armenian Genocide, with Peter
Balakian and
    interviews with survivors.

This is part of an effort by ABC to make up for the
exclusion of the
Armenian Genocide in the Peter Jennings series/book, "The
Century". A
segment on "World News Tonight" generally attracts an
estimated 14
    million viewers nationally.

As always, the segment is scheduled for Friday, other major
news
events permitting. If, for unseen reasons the segment does
not air on
Friday, it will rescheduled for Saturday.
